A/Prof Michelle Yong

MBBS FRACP MPH PhD

Associate Professor Michelle K Yong is an adult infectious diseases physician and a leader in the field of cytomegalovirus (CMV) and other opportunistic infections in immune compromised hosts. She heads the Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Unit at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and holds appointments at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and University of Melbourne. A/Prof Yong has secured over $21.5 million in research funding and has published over 50 scientific papers and guidelines that have changed medical practice in CMV infection and immune monitoring.

As a parent of two young cancer survivors, she brings a unique perspective on the challenges faced by childhood cancer survivors and their families. A/Prof Yong is dedicated to improving the quality of life and outcomes for patients with cancer and infections.
