Professor Brendan Murphy AC is a distinguished Australian public servant, health executive, nephrologist and medical researcher. He served as Australia's Chief Medical Officer from 2016 to 2020, playing a key role in the COVID-19 pandemic response. From 2020 to 2023, Prof Murphy was Secretary of the Department of Health, overseeing significant health policy reforms.

Recognised for his contributions to medical administration and nephrology, Prof Murphy was named the Australian Capital Territory's Australian of the Year in 2020 and appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in 2022.
