Victorian Government
Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions

To position Victoria as a global leader in childhood cancer research, the Victorian Government made a substantial investment of $35 million in 2023 to establish the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium Ltd, now known as the Children’s Cancer CoLab.
This significant commitment from the Victorian Government Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions was partnered with a $10 million contribution from the Children’s Cancer Foundation. With a total investment of $45 million, this ground-breaking initiative aims to enhance outcomes for young cancer patients and their families in Victoria and beyond.
The Children’s Cancer CoLab has united our CoLaborators – eight of Victoria’s leading research, clinical and academic institutions working in childhood cancer. As a collaborative hub, the Children’s Cancer CoLab is creating opportunities for paediatric oncology and attracting further research, innovation, development, commercialisation, and investment opportunities in Victoria.
The Children’s Cancer CoLab forms part of the Victorian Government’s robust commitment to medical research. With a record investment exceeding $1 billion in medical research over the past decade, Victoria is home to world-leading medical research institutes and a workforce of over 30,000 who drive remarkable breakthroughs in treatment and patient care.
